You do veer off the I5 for a bit, but we were still heading North. We were heading from Palm Springs back to Vancouver and wanted to get past Sacramento and found the Hard Rock. If you have reason to be in this area, the Hard Rock is a good place to stay.… But I noticed that it was very busy all evening, with lines waiting to get in. Maybe it's what I ordered, but I didn't expect teriyaki chicken to be breaded and deep-fried (!) and the xiao long bao were terrible - thick doughy wrapper, no soup inside, and no dipping sauce. Probably the worst Chinese food I've had in a long time.
I ate at Youyu, and was surprised at how bad it was. The location is kind of in the middle of nowhere.
Came back at 3 to find a line of people waiting to check in. Unlike most places where you can check in even if your room isn't ready, they told me they couldn't and I'd have to come back in an hour or two. Service was pleasant and welcoming, though they seem a bit understaffed, particularly at the bell desk. It was very clean and nice, with a comfortable bed, good lighting, plenty of charging outlets, and a spacious bathroom. I spent one night at the Hard Rock when I attended a concert.
